Before Waxing
Grow hair to a minimum of ΒΌ inch, exfoliate and take pain relievers if needed (Caffeine can increase sensitivity).
Post Wax Care
To avoid bacteria and infection after waxing I recommend waiting 24 hours before any exercise, sun, saunas, pools, baths, sex, tanning, applying makeup, using any lotions or creams, or even touching the area. Aloe or Finipil can be a nice soother if you feel like you need something to reduce irritation. Any redness should disappear in about 8-48 hours after a wax. Also keep in mind that waxing is a form of exfoliation and can cause sun sensitivity so make sure to wear sunscreen, especially after a wax (after 24 hours of course).
How Often Should You Wax
I recommend waxing every 3-8 weeks. With consistent waxes you can expect less future hair growth – hair that does grow back will come in softer and finer.
Combatting Ingrowns
Regular exfoliation is a great way to prevent ingrown hairs – 2-3 times weekly is ideal. Ingrown products are another option if regular exfoliation isn’t enough.
Waxing On Your Period Or While Pregnant
I will absolutely wax you on your period and if you are pregnant. Just a heads up, during these times you may be a bit more sensitive. If you are on your period, all I ask is you tuck the string of your tampon.
Waxing Minors
Requires parental consent.
Who Should Not Wax
Anyone using Accutane, strong acids, Retin-A, or has had a recent peel. All of these things thin the skin and can be dangerous to wax. Please let me know at the time of service if you are using or have used any of these products.
What Is Nufree
Nufree is a natural non wax that is a self-preserving antibacterial/antimicrobial botanical formula. It is a great option for those who have VERY sensitive skin or who have major issues with ingrowns.
Spray Tans
Spray tans will come off with waxing. If you’d like a wax and spray tan around the same time get waxed first and wait 24-48 hours after your wax to spray tan.
